This is the frontispiece from a very special copy of the Fabric of the Human Body by Vesalius. The book that this image comes from was the presentation copy signed by Vesalius and presented to the Holy Roman Emperor. My husband’s father had owned this book and it was sold at auction in 1998 through Christie’s.
